Job summary

Novax Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Planner - Structural Steel in Leeds. The role involves developing and maintaining detailed programmes for tender, pre-construction and live projects, coordinating Estimating, Commercial, Production and Construction teams to ensure deliveries are feasible and on time.

You will lead planning across fabrication, construction, and sequencing, identifying risks and balancing constraints while communicating progress to senior management.

Qualifications

• Experience in producing detailed project programmes from multiple disciplines.
• Strong understanding of programme logic, dependencies and critical paths.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender information.
• Experience working to demanding tender and project deadlines.
• Confident coordinating information across teams and challenging inputs.

Senior Planner - Structural Steel

Location: Leeds
Salary: Dependent on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

The Company

When a structural steel project moves from a set of drawings to thousands of tonnes of steel being fabricated, delivered and erected, there are a lot of moving parts that have to come together.

This is an established structural steel specialist with more than 75 years in the industry, delivering projects ranging from straightforward building frames through to complex structures across the UK and Europe.

With the capability to process around 50,000 tonnes of steel every year, the scale of the work is there. The challenge is making sure everything happens in the right sequence, at the right time.

That is where you come in.

The Role

This is a specialist planning position sitting across Estimating, Commercial, Production and Construction.

You will be the person bringing information from those teams together and turning it into a programme that can actually be delivered.

• Develop detailed tender, pre-construction and live project programmes using Asta Powerproject and/or Primavera P6.
• Build programmes around real fabrication, construction, resource and sequencing requirements.
• Coordinate information from Estimating, Commercial, Production and Construction to create one clear delivery programme.
• Identify critical paths, dependencies, risks and constraints before they become problems.
• Challenge assumptions and work with operational teams to find practical alternatives where required.
• Maintain programmes throughout the project lifecycle, communicating progress, priorities and key dates to the wider team.

The Candidate

You will already have significant experience in project planning or programming within construction, structural steelwork, engineering or another project-led environment.

You should be able to demonstrate:

• Strong practical experience with Asta Powerproject and/or Primavera P6.
• Experience producing detailed project programmes from information supplied by multiple disciplines.
• A solid understanding of programme logic, dependencies, critical path analysis and sequencing.
• The ability to interpret drawings, specifications, tender information and project documentation.
• Experience working to demanding tender and project deadlines.
• The confidence to obtain, coordinate and challenge information across different teams.

Structural steel, fabrication or engineering experience would be advantageous, particularly if you understand how design, procurement, fabrication, logistics and site erection interact.
