Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Town Planner in Edinburgh to contribute to a diverse portfolio of development projects across Scotland. The role focuses on preparing planning applications, producing supporting documents, and advising clients on policy and opportunities.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Town Planning (or related field) and MRTPI status or is working toward chartership, with solid communication and organisational skills and a proactive approach.

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or relevant discipline is required.
• MRTPI qualification or active progression toward chartership is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage planning applications for development projects.
• Produce planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
• Advise clients on planning policy and development opportunities.
• Liaise with local authorities, developers, architects and stakeholders.
• Monitor applications and manage projects through the planning process.
• Support residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes from feasibility to determination.
• Build and maintain client relationships to support project delivery.

An established planning consultancy is looking to expand its team in Edinburgh with a motivated Town Planner. This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional to join a specialist consultancy and work on a diverse range of development projects across Scotland.

REQUIREMENTS

• A degree in Town Planning or a relevant discipline.
• MRTPI qualified, working towards chartership or interested in pursuing professional accreditation.
• Previous experience in town planning, ideally within a planning consultancy or local authority.
• Good understanding of the Scottish planning system, planning policy and development management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confidence liaising with clients, consultants and planning authorities.
• A proactive approach and a genuine interest in property, development and planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparing and managing planning applications for a range of development projects.
