Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a Senior Planner to join an energy and infrastructure consultancy on a secondment basis, supporting a major national utility on a landmark UK grid reinforcement and energy transmission project.

The role requires expert Primavera P6 capabilities and a proven track record delivering large civil/infra schemes with multi-contractor interfaces. The position is hybrid in the East of England, with fortnightly on-site presence for 2–3 days and an immediate start.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, monitoring and maintenance of Primavera P6 schedules from inception to delivery.

• Conduct critical path analysis, EVM, baseline management and progress reporting.
• Identify risk, variances and bottlenecks, proposing mitigation strategies to protect milestones.
• On-site fortnightly for 2–3 days to support progress reviews and alignment.

This high-profile infrastructure development is a vital component of the UK's energy transition. The ideal candidate will possess advanced Primavera P6 expertise and a proven track record of managing schedules across large-scale, complex projects involving multi-contractor interfaces and diverse stakeholder environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, monitoring, and maintenance of robust, fully integrated Primavera P6 project schedules from inception through delivery.
• Manage interface schedules and critical dependencies across multiple tier-1 contractors, specialist suppliers, and project stakeholders.
• Conduct critical path analysis, earned value management (EVM), baseline management, and project progress reporting.
• Identify risk, schedule variances, and potential bottlenecks, proposing proactive mitigation strategies to keep project milestones on track.
• Perform site-based schedule reviews and progress updates, requiring fortnightly presence on-site for 2-3 days.
• Provide clear schedule reporting and executive summaries to project directors, client representatives, and external bodies.

Candidate Requirements

• Expert proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential.
• Demonstrated experience delivering large, complex civil engineering, infrastructure, or energy projects.
• Strong experience managing multi-contractor environments and complex stakeholder groups.
• Willingness and ability to spend 2-3 days on-site fortnightly in the regional project hub.
• Immediate or short-notice availability is strongly preferred to facilitate a fast turnaround.
• Industry-specific power/utilities experience is preferred, though candidates with strong complex infrastructure or civil backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply.
