Job description

We have an opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic clinician who enjoys working with children in an integrated multidisciplinary team. This part-time physiotherapy post will support the respiratory team.

The post holder will work alongside the full respiratory team providing services to respiratory care in acute and long-term settings. Children may be managed on wards, intensive care units, specialist clinics, outpatient departments, and in the community.

The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team including medical staff, nursing staff, occupational therapists, speech therapists, play therapists, dieticians, and psychologists. They will also liaise with other agencies supporting children and their families.

The Children's Physiotherapy Team is committed to clinical governance and staff development through appraisal, training, research, and audit. Our mission is to make a positive difference in children's lives through specialist, individualised, and engaging therapy in partnership with the MDT, the child, and their family.

The post holder will contribute to the Paediatric On-call service.

Main duties of the job
  • Assessment and treatment of children as inpatients, outpatients, at home, and at school.

About us

The children's physiotherapy team comprises approximately 40 physiotherapists and assistants working across Leeds Children's Hospital, with experience and a focus on developing new team members. The team is based at Leeds General Infirmary and covers the Neonatal Unit at St James Hospital, with transportation available between sites.

Job responsibilities

Job Purpose: To perform physiotherapeutic assessments of paediatric patients with diverse and complex conditions, providing diagnosis and developing individualised treatment plans.

Participate in the Band 6 paediatric rotational scheme across various settings and be responsible for personal professional development.

Participate in the Paediatric Out of Hours service.

Job Dimensions: Manage own caseload and work independently within a defined area or patient group, with support from senior physiotherapists as needed. Conduct clinical duties autonomously within this specialist field.

  • Moving and handling patients and equipment is required.
Experience
  • Significant postgraduate clinical experience, including respiratory, neurology, musculoskeletal, with at least one rotation in paediatrics.
  • Experience in paediatric respiratory care.
  • On-call respiratory competencies.

Salary: £38,682 to £40,823 per year (subject to pay award).
