Job overview

We are delighted to announce a new 16 bed service based in Doncaster that will welcome patients from Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire.

The unit will support patients with complex mental health with a focus on rehabilitation, patients may be in the service for up to 12 months and through a multi-professional approach will receive recovery focussed care. This is a rare opportunity to work within a setting built with current understandings of therapeutic environments and trauma-informed care.

This role will be part of a multi–disciplinary team assessing physiotherapy needs and providing clinically effective and efficient interventions on an individual and group basis for people with mental health needs.

· To provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex physiotherapy problems as an autonomous practitioner for adults with mental health problems.

· To manage a defined caseload using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and record all interventions.

· To provide clinical education and training.

· To provide physiotherapy clinical input within the HDU Mental Health Team working as a member of the multi-professional team.

· To complete home visits and outreach work to enable safe and timely discharge.

· To be responsible for providing information to the Clinical Lead Mental Health Physiotherapist and the HDU Team Manager as needed.

Role requirements
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist BSc or Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Understanding and knowledge of clinical governance issues within own clinical practice and wider implications for delivery of patient services.
  • Portfolio evidence of reflective practice, relevant experience, and CPD.
  • Involvement in physiotherapy projects/working groups.
