Job summary

University of Leeds invites applications for a Senior Research Technician (Physico-Chemical). The post oversees day-to-day ultrasound and colloid equipment, deputising for the School Technical Manager and supporting multiple laboratories.

You will lead maintenance, develop SOPs, and supervise student research projects in collaboration with academic staff. The role requires a degree in Food Science, Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or related field, or equivalent experience in physico-chemical

Qualifications

You will have an undergraduate degree in Food Science, Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in physico-chemical analysis of colloids.
You will be proficient in physical characterisation techniques and equipment and act as technical lead for maintenance and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage day-to-day running of ultrasound and colloid equipment across the School.
deputise in the School Technical Manager’s absence providing cross-lab support.
Produce SOPs and risk assessments to ensure safe and efficient equipment use.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects with academic staff.
Attend training courses to stay updated on equipment and methods.
