Job summary

Newcastle United Women Academy seeks an Academy Physical Performance Lead to design and deliver age-appropriate, evidence-informed development programmes for players, aiming to enhance physical performance, support long-term athletic development and reduce injury risk.

You will work with coaches, medical staff and the multidisciplinary team to monitor progress, educate on nutrition and recovery, and help create an environment where players maximize potential and healthy habits.

Qualifications

• BSc in Strength & Conditioning or related discipline.
• UKSCA accreditation or working towards accreditation.
• Excellent knowledge of long-term athletic development principles.
• Experience delivering physical development programmes within womens and girls sport.
• Experience working effectively within a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication, motivation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Reflective mindset and commitment to continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver and review evidence-informed strength and conditioning programmes aligned to the NUW Performance Plan.
• Conduct physical testing and monitor player progression to inform development plans.
• Support rehabilitation, return-to-play and injury prevention programmes with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide physical performance support during training sessions and matchdays, home and away.
• Maintain accurate player records and physical performance databases.
• Educate and support coaches to integrate physical development outcomes into technical programmes.
• Deliver player education on nutrition, recovery and healthy lifestyle habits.
• Maintain and develop the Academy's physical performance monitoring systems.
• Support management and development of strength and conditioning equipment and facilities.
• Contribute to departmental projects, meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
