Job summary

Newcastle United Women Academy is seeking an Academy Physical Performance Lead to design and deliver age-appropriate, evidence-informed athletic development programmes for NUW players. You’ll work with coaches, medical staff and the multidisciplinary team to maximise athletic potential, reduce injury risk and support long-term player development.

Your role includes leading strength and conditioning programmes, conducting testing, guiding rehabilitation, providing on-training and matchday

Qualifications

• BSc in Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science or related.
• UKSCA accreditation or working toward accreditation.
• Excellent knowledge of long‑term athletic development principles.
• Experience delivering physical development programmes within womens and girls sport.
• Experience working effectively within a high‑performing multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication, motivation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Reflective mindset and commitment to continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver and review evidence‑informed strength and conditioning programmes aligned to the NUW Performance Plan.
• Conduct physical testing and monitor player progression to inform development plans.
• Support rehabilitation, return‑to‑play and injury prevention programmes with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide physical performance support during training sessions and matchdays, home and away.
• Maintain accurate player records and physical performance databases.
• Educate and support coaches to integrate physical development outcomes into technical programmes.
• Deliver player education on nutrition, recovery and healthy lifestyle habits.
• Maintain and develop the Academy's physical performance monitoring systems.
• Support management and development of strength and conditioning equipment and facilities.
• Contribute to departmental projects, meetings, professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.
