Job summary

PRIFYSGOL ABERYSTWYTH, Aberystwyth University, seeks a Philanthropy Manager to lead a programme of major donations and gifts in wills, managing a small fundraising team and engaging major donors within a global network.

The role focuses on donor-centric strategies, securing six- and seven-figure gifts, and developing strong internal/external networks with senior stakeholders. Informal enquiry contact: [e-mail].

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• Demonstrable experience of securing a five or six figure gift from an individual, from initiation to gift agreement.
• Experience of developing and achieving philanthropic income targets.
• Knowledge of proactive legacy giving strategies.
• Experience of approaching major donor/legacy giving prospects, converting approaches to cultivation, then solicitation and securing gifts.
• Experience of managing staff, working as part of a team and supporting team members to achieve joint objectives.
• Knowledge of relational databases and extracting data to support planning and execution of long-term objectives.
• Outstanding communication skills with compelling verbal and written ability; able to tailor content and style to a range of audiences.
• Very strong influencing and interpersonal skills, proficient at relationship building.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of fundraising professionals to meet ambitious targets.
• Manage and develop a data-driven rolling portfolio of major donors and legators.
• Develop compelling cases for support for high-potential activity areas.
• Secure six- and seven-figure philanthropic donations.
• Oversee legacy giving strategy to maximise gifts in wills.
• Present proposals through meetings, events and publications.
• Brief stakeholders on major donor relationships to maximise support and stewardship.
• Communicate with existing and prospective donors to build relationships.
