Job summary

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Pharmacy Dispensary role at The Royal Brompton Hospital. You will deputise for senior technicians, ensure the dispensary runs smoothly and contribute to dispensing inpatient, outpatient, discharge and clinical trials prescriptions.

The role requires ACPT accreditation, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across GSTT sites as needed. A supportive team environment and opportunities for progression are highlighted.

Responsibilities

• deputise for Lead Pharmacy Technician and Principal Pharmacy Technician when they are absent.
• Ensure smooth daily running of the dispensary at Royal Brompton site.
• Assist in dispensing inpatient, outpatient, discharge and clinical trials prescriptions.
• Contribute to continuing professional development and performance of staff.
• Interact with staff and patients, on site or by phone, with accuracy under pressure.
• Be flexible to work across GSTT sites as required.

Job description

We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will provide a professional, efficient and customer focused service in the Pharmacy Dispensary at The Royal Brompton Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to progress within hospital pharmacy.

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work to a high standard within the team or on their own initiative. You will work as part of a friendly and supportive team of pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.

To deputise for the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Principal Pharmacy Technician, Patient Services in their absence.

To be responsible for the smooth daily running of the dispensary at Royal Brompton site.

Working with the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Principal Pharmacy Technician, to ensure the daily workload is covered and complete.

To participate in the dispensing of inpatient, outpatient, discharge and controlled drug prescriptions and the dispensing of clinical trials, following departmental procedures.

To play a part in the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff in the dispensary.

To work as an accredited checking pharmacy technician (ACPT).

To interact with other staff and patients both in person and over the telephone and the need to work quickly and accurately under pressure.

This role is based at Royal Brompton, but there is an expectation to be able to work flexibly across all GSTT sites.

The Royal Brompton Hospital Pharmacy department is a friendly welcoming team, who support their staff.
