Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Principal Pharmacy Technician in their absence.
• Oversee the smooth daily running of the Royal Brompton dispensary.
• Assist in planning to ensure daily workload is covered and completed.
• Participate in dispensing inpatient, outpatient, discharge, and clinical trial prescriptions per procedures.
• Contribute to staff development and performance within the dispensary.
• Operate as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).
• Interact with staff and patients, working quickly and accurately under pressure.

We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will provide a professional, efficient and customer focused service in the Pharmacy Dispensary at The Royal Brompton Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to progress within hospital pharmacy.

The successful candidates will have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work to a high standard within the team or on their own initiative.You will work as part of a friendly and supportive team of pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.

Main duties of the job

• To deputise for the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Principal Pharmacy Technician, Patient Services in their absence.
• To be responsible for the smooth daily running of the dispensary at Royal Brompton site.
• Working with the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Principal Pharmacy Technician, to ensure the daily workload is covered and complete.
• To participate in the dispensing of inpatient, outpatient, discharge and controlled drug prescriptions and the dispensing of clinical trials, following departmental procedures.
• To play a part in the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff in the dispensary.
• To work as an accredited checking pharmacy technician (ACPT).
• To interact with other staff and patients both in person and over the telephone and the need to work quickly and accurately under pressure.

This role is based at Royal Brompton, but there is an expectation to be able to work flexibly across all GSTT sites., We work closely with our counterparts at Harefield, Evelina, Guy's and St. Thomas's Hospital Pharmacies, to ensure our patients get the best possible treatment for their lung and heart conditions.
