Job summary

NHS Lothian is seeking an experienced, strategic Pharmacy Technician leader to take on the Professional Manager Pharmacy Technical Services: Operations & Pharmacologistics role across NHS Lothian's sites. Base site is Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, with travel to other sites.

You will provide professional leadership for the pharmacy technician workforce, shape medicines procurement and supply, and drive quality, governance and workforce planning.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) and a management qualification.
• Significant post-registration hospital pharmacy experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of technical pharmacy operations, medicines procurement and stock control.
• Experience in service redesign, workforce planning and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and professional leadership for pharmacy technical operations, pharmacologistics and medicines management services across NHS Lothian.
• Lead the safe procurement, supply, dispensing and distribution of medicines.
• Develop and implement robust quality systems for regulatory compliance and service continuity.
• Offer professional advice and leadership to pharmacy technicians across acute, mental health and primary care sites.
• Lead workforce planning, succession planning and development of advanced practice roles for pharmacy technicians.
