Role Summary:

The main purpose of the role is to provide technical expertise in resolving pensions-related projects, supporting benefit calculations, remediation work, and regulatory changes.

You should have a background in pensions work, calculations, and administration, with the ability to develop positive relationships across teams and stakeholders. You will support regulatory change initiatives such as GMP Equalisation, benefit rectifications, LTA abolition, and Pensions Dashboard.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Manage complex pensions projects, maintaining plans, logs, client reports, and meetings. Review and approve timesheet entries.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with roadmaps, prioritise workloads, and maintain standards and compliance.
  • Serve as a technical and legislative reference point, monitor casework, and identify training needs. Support team performance and development.
  • Lead client meetings and project delivery discussions.
  • Conduct training sessions on pensions topics and develop team knowledge.
  • Set quality targets, monitor progress, and ensure documentation and templates are compliant.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of Trust Deed and Rules, industry regulations, and legislation, and communicate these effectively.
Skills, Capabilities, and Attributes:
  • Working towards Pension Management Institute or Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of pension legislation and ability to discuss technical topics with clients.
  • PRINCE2 or Agile certification is advantageous.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies.
  • Ability to lead client meetings and support project delivery and technical queries.
  • Knowledge of pension scheme design and client engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to relate to all levels, multitask, and work independently.
  • Self-motivated with leadership qualities.
  • Proficient in calculations, testing reasonableness, and engaging with clients and advisors.
  • Experience in writing and signing off process notes.
  • Familiarity with Compendia tables/fields is desirable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel; VBA and macros are a plus.
