Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking an HW Electronics Engineer for Production in Cambridge on a 12-month contract. You will join a multi-site programme interfacing with US and Israel teams, driving hardware changes, NPI, and reliability testing across the product lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on hardware experience, PCB/PCBA design knowledge, and a strong grasp of global compliance. It offers onsite work 3–4 days in Cambridge and cross-functional collaboration across R&D and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/BSc in Electronics Engineering or similar required.
• 5+ years' experience with worldwide compliance and regulations.
• Knowledge of PCB/PCBA design and assembly, batteries, RF, IR, and testing methods including ATE.
• Strong hands-on hardware, embedded interfaces, and system-level integration experience.
• Experience working in a matrixed, worldwide organisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFx and NPI procedures for new products.
• Lead failure analysis and reliability testing across critical product design aspects.
• Act as component engineer for new and existing products.

This is a key role in the Engineering department, sitting at the intersection of NPI, production, and full product lifecycle support, working closely with R&D, contract manufacturers, and worldwide operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware changes on new and legacy products, including EOL and layout updates
• Lead DFx and NPI procedures for new products
• Lead failure analysis and reliability testing across critical product design aspects
• Act as component engineer for new and existing products
• Support design validation to ensure products meet quality and reliability standards

Requirements

• Deep understanding of electronic design and DFM
• Understanding of multidisciplinary product design
• 5+ years' experience with worldwide compliance and regulations
• Knowledge of electronic components, PCB/PCBA design and assembly, batteries, RF, IR, and testing methods including ATE
• Strong hands-on hardware, embedded interfaces, and system-level integration experience
• Experience working in a matrixed, worldwide, cross-cultural organisation
• BSc in Electronics Engineering or similar

Advantageous

• 5+ years' board design experience with Altium or OrCAD
• SQA and LabVIEW knowledge
• Experience with RF communication and connected/smart products
