Job summary

Cornerstone is recruiting for two Payroll Business Partners to join our finance team in Scotland. You will lead complex payroll activities for ~1,800 colleagues, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payments. Roles can be based in Glasgow, Dundee or Aberdeen, with a hybrid option requiring at least two days per week in the office.

You will collaborate across Finance, HR and Operations to improve processes, strengthen controls and coach colleagues on payroll best practices.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering payroll and pension services in large or complex organisations.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, RTI, NIC, IR35, auto-enrolment).
• Experience with complex payroll calculations and retrospective adjustments.
• Payroll reconciliations, month-end reporting and payroll controls experience.
• Advanced Excel skills for manipulating and validating payroll data.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end monthly payroll delivery including deductions and statutory submissions.
• Review and validate payroll data from multiple sources for accuracy and proper approval.
• Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries with technical knowledge and judgement.
• Analyse payroll and workforce data to identify discrepancies, trends and risks.
• Coach and train payroll colleagues and stakeholders to build capability and consistency.
• Improve payroll procedures and controls to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
• Support system testing, upgrades and change programmes.
• Complete payroll reconciliations, period-end activities and statutory submissions.
• Coordinate with HMRC, pension providers and other bodies as required.
