Job summary

Blackpool Orthoptic department is seeking an enthusiastic Optometrist with paediatric interest to join the Orthoptic team / Hospital Eye Service at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. The post-holder will deliver a paediatric clinic with support from Orthoptists and ophthalmologists.

Applicants should have BSc (Hons) Optometry, GOC registration, and be prepared for part-time hours.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) Optometry or equivalent.
• Registration with the General Optical Council.
• Car owner/driver.
• Desirable paediatric specialization knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide a broad range of highly specialised optometry services.
• Work in outpatients or community clinics as required.
• Collaborate with orthoptists and ophthalmologists in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Contribute to teaching and clinical audit within the department.
• Manage complex cases and guide colleagues when needed.
