Job summary

County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Optometrist to provide core paediatric optometry within the Orthoptic and Optometry team. You will work in multi-disciplinary clinics with the consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist, covering paediatric review refraction and collaborative clinics with Orthoptists.

The role includes dilated retinoscopy and paediatric ophthalmoscopy. There is opportunity to support low-vision clinics and pursue formal training to expand into medical

Qualifications

• BSc Hons in Optometry (MCOptom) required.
• Current GOC registration required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver core paediatric hospital optometry services.
• Collaborate with the consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist in multi-disciplinary clinics.
• Perform dilated retinoscopy and ophthalmoscopy on paediatric patients.
• Support potential expansion into medical contact lens clinics and low-vision services.
