Job summary

AG Barr seeks a Senior Packaging Technologist to drive Material Development & Validation, bridging packaging concepts to commercial reality across the supply chain. You’ll lead profiling of materials, industrialisation of components and rigorous on-line validation for new formats.

You will collaborate with Procurement and Production on optimisations, manage technical risks, and ensure packaging specs meet evolving quality standards and environmental legislation.

Qualifications

• Education to degree level or equivalent in Packaging, Science or Engineering.
• Proven expertise in technical validation and material profiling across multiple formats (PET/rPET, canisters, cartons).
• Experience leading factory trials and bridging R&D specs with high-speed manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead technical authority for material integrity of packaging components.
• Design and execute validation programmes and factory trials for new formats.
• Lead material science workstreams for resins and recycled blends.
• Collaborate with Procurement and Production on supply chain optimisations.
• Own technical specifications for packaging materials and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical governance within Stage & Gate processes.
