Job summary

Ryan Specialty in London is seeking a Senior Property and Casualty Underwriter to oversee complex workflows for new and renewal business, applying advanced technical expertise and adhering to underwriting guidelines.

You will build long-term broker relationships, evaluate risk, set terms and premiums, and mentor junior underwriters while contributing to budgeting and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Property and Casualty Underwriting.
• Bachelor's degree required; Risk Management, Actuarial or Business Administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and strategically manages workflows for new property and casualty business and renewals.
• Evaluates, prioritizes, and selects submissions and prices risks to generate underwriting profit.
• Drives risk assessment considering coverage value, location, usage, safety features and other factors.
• Determines coverage limits, premiums, and terms based on risk assessment and portfolio management.
• Negotiates terms with brokers and identifies cross-sell opportunities while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Develops strategic initiatives to create new business and maximize portfolio retention.
• Manages relationships with brokers and agents to expand the book of business within delegated authority.
• Partners with underwriting teams to optimize processes and support training for new underwriters.
