Job summary

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Memory Assessment Service. You will work within a skilled MDT to deliver cognitive assessments and dementia care, both in clinics and in clients' homes.

The role offers a permanent contract, 37.5 hours, and NHS terms, with opportunities to develop expertise in memory assessment and dementia care.

Qualifications

• Degree in OT and HCPC registered.
• Experience of working with Older Adults and people with memory difficulties.
• Dementia care mapping, Coaching Leadership, Allens Cognitive Disability Model e.g. LACLS Tool.
• Experience of working in a multicultural community.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist OT assessments focusing on functional ability and cognition.
• Analyse performance skills to inform memory assessments and diagnosis.
• Dual role: conduct specialist OT assessments to support diagnosis and complete holistic memory assessments.
• Participate in a duty rota and support wider team responsibilities.
• Carry out assessments in service users' homes and clinic settings.
• Contribute to MDT discussions, care planning and onward referrals.
• Support service users and families throughout the memory assessment pathway.
