Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist in Housing for a fixed term/secondment role in Chelmsford. The post focuses on major housing adaptations, discharge facilitation, and close collaboration with Housing Officers and health colleagues to deliver timely discharges.

You will mentor Health and Community OTs, contribute to training on DFG processes, and work across Essex districts to ensure safe and efficient housing solutions for adults and children with complex needs.

Qualifications

• Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
• Experience in social care settings and housing adaptations.
• Demonstrated CPD and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Carry out holistic assessments considering housing factors.
• Collaborate with Health colleagues to process referrals for safe discharge.
• Liaise with Housing Officers to progress adaptations and DFG recommendations.
• Mentor Health and Community OTs involved with complex adaptations.
• Provide training on DFG processes and home discharge workflows.
• Support multiple cases and contribute to a multidisciplinary approach.
