Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Experienced Occupational Therapist (Elderly Care) on a fixed-term basis until December 2027. The post covers six inpatient elderly care wards and participates in MDT clinics, with leadership responsibilities and opportunities for professional development.

The role involves autonomous patient caseload management, collaboration with the therapy team, and contributing to planning and policy development within the department.

Qualifications

• Post graduate CPD and teaching activity demonstrating specialist expertise.
• Understanding of a broad range of Elderly Care conditions.
• Post‑graduate training in management of conditions.
• Experience of supervising staff and students; training/presentation skills.
• HCPC registered and degree in Occupational Therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist occupational therapy to patients in designated Elderly Care wards.
• Participate in operational management and clinical leadership with the Band 7 Advanced specialist.
• Manage own caseload of patients with complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner.
• Ensure a high quality, effective and efficient service in the designated area.
• Contribute to planning and policy development within the Therapy Department.
