Job summary

CleanTech Talent is seeking a Senior Ecologist in Manchester to lead ecological surveys including Preliminary Ecology Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Habitat Regulations Assessments. You will design mitigation strategies and provide expert ornithology guidance across diverse projects.

You will collaborate with clients and colleagues across disciplines in a fast-paced environment, balancing project delivery with learning and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree in ecology, biological sciences, or related field required.
• CIEEM membership encouraged, Chartership pursued when possible.
• Specialism in ornithology with experience in bird surveys (breeding and non-breeding).
• Experience with Habitat Regulations Assessments and mitigation design.
• Strong knowledge of UK ecology legislation and planning policies.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Proven project management experience, delivering on time and within budget.
• Full UK driving licence required.

The Opportunity

Youll join a forward-thinking team with a passion for ecological innovation and sustainability. Your role will involve leading ecological surveys, including Preliminary Ecology Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Habitat Regulations Assessments. Youll design mitigation strategies and provide expert advice on ornithology and bird surveys across diverse projects.

The Role

As a Senior Ecologist, youll:

Essential Skills and Experience

Were looking for someone with:

• A degree in ecology, biological sciences, or a related field.
• Membership with CIEEM, ideally working towards Chartership.
• Specialism in ornithology, with experience in breeding and non-breeding bird surveys.
• Proficiency in Habitat Regulations Assessments and designing mitigation strategies.
• Strong knowledge of UK ecology legislation and planning policies.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Proven project management experience, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• A full UK driving licence.
