Job summary

Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Principal Optometrist for its Single Point of Access team. The role involves delivering highly specialist clinical care, assessing referrals across ophthalmic sub-specialties and guiding onward care with escalation as needed.

Successful applicants will report to the Sparc Clinical Lead and contribute to service redesign, data insights, and governance. Multiple sessions are available within Moorfields' expansive ophthalmology department.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospital-level optometry or equivalent is required or being pursued.
• Higher qualifications from the College of Optometrists or working towards them.
• Ability to assess referrals across ophthalmic sub-specialities and provide expert guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient referrals across ophthalmic sub-specialties and make care decisions.
• Provide clinical oversight of the Sparc pathway and governance issues.
• Communicate with referrers with clinical advice and decision support.
• Contribute to service redesign and insight generation from referral data.
