What to expect:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Optics Technician to join our growing Quantum Infrastructure team and facilitate the company's ongoing growth and future expansion plans. This is a senior role within a highly experienced department.
In this dynamic role, you will collaborate with our existing technical staff on cutting-edge quantum computing systems. You will also support engineers and scientists on system builds, maintenance, upgrades, and research projects. This is a unique opportunity to dive into groundbreaking technology, contribute directly to ambitious technical projects, and build the world's most powerful computers.
What you'll be responsible for:
As a Senior Optics Technician, you will work alongside other technicians and scientists to build and commission the optics and laser aspects of our state of the art quantum systems. Responsibilities may also include managing stock control, handling purchasing and supplier relations, producing technical documentation, and maintaining a tidy and safe lab and workshop environment.
The ideal candidate will be able to take responsibility for tasks with minimal supervision and possess experience in several of the following areas: lasers, optics and fibre-optics, electrical wiring, working from mechanical and electrical drawings, microscope use, and/or fine part handling.
Additionally, formal qualifications such as an Advanced/Modern Apprenticeship (Level 3) in Engineering or an HNC (Level 4) in Engineering, or other similar qualifications would be beneficial. Specific experience working in a scientific support role or in a commercial research environment would also be advantageous.
