Job summary

Northrop Grumman UK is seeking a Principal Operations Support Engineer to ensure performance, reliability and operational readiness of advanced mission systems supporting national security. You will lead operational analysis, monitor trends and drive continuous improvements with a team of engineers and government customers.

The role requires a STEM degree or equivalent, strong Linux knowledge, and experience in operations engineering.

Qualifications

• Requires a STEM degree or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience in systems or operations engineering environments.
• Strong knowledge of Linux environments and scripting (Python/Perl).
• Experience analysing performance, trends and complex issues.
• Ability to work across geographically dispersed teams and matrix organizations.
• Strong communication with technical stakeholders and teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as Responsible System Engineer, reviewing system performance and health across multiple systems.
• Lead anomaly investigations, recovery activities and on-call support for mission systems.
• Develop and maintain monitoring/trending tools (Python, Perl, Linux, Grafana).
• Review and update operational procedures and training materials.
• Support future system development, assess operational impacts in design groups.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers while driving improvements.
