Job summary

FCC Environment is seeking an Operations Manager at the Eastcroft Energy from Waste facility in Nottinghamshire. You will lead the Operations team to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operation, driving health, safety and environmental performance.

This senior role is full-time and involves delivering operational excellence, budgeting, contract management and the development of procedures, reporting to the EfW General Manager as needed.

Qualifications

• HND qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience in an operations and engineering function relating to steam-powered electricity generation.
• Detailed knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Knowledge of Electricity Supply Industry safe systems of work, Safety Rules and Permit to Work.
• Experience with process plant associated with steam-powered electricity generation.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to develop teams.
• NEBOSH or IOSH qualification would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Managing all aspects of the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Eastcroft Energy from Waste facility.
• Implementing FCC Health, Safety and Environmental Management systems and maintaining high standards across all Operations department activities.
• Managing the site’s safe systems of work in accordance with the FCC Safety Rules.
• Leading site safety forums, including regular procedure and safety system reviews.
• Providing leadership, direction, management and development to the Operations team.
• Building and maintaining a positive team culture where employees are supported to develop and contribute to their full potential.
• Managing cooperation between the Operations and Maintenance teams, including the development and use of the site’s computerised maintenance management system.
• Leading the development, delivery and ongoing review of operational procedures.
• Managing, supervising, planning and coordinating departmental activities to support plant availability, flexibility and performance.
• Developing and managing out-of-hours Operations team cover arrangements.
• Supporting the safe and timely delivery of planned and unplanned equipment and facility outages.
• Developing effective working relationships between the Operations department and other site teams.
• Preparing and managing contracts for external technical support when required.
• Managing the development and delivery of the departmental budget.
• Deputising for the EfW General Manager when required.
