Placements24 seeks a Senior Operations Geologist for a Randburg-based role in the Oil & Gas sector. The candidate will provide real-time geological support during drilling, ensuring wellbore stability, formation evaluation, and timely decisions to optimize safety and efficiency.

The role requires strong experience in formation evaluation, well logging, and data interpretation, with collaboration across drilling engineers, geophysicists, and other geoscientists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related geoscience field required.
• Minimum of 7+ years as Operations/Drilling Geologist in Oil & Gas.
• Experience with real-time formation evaluation using well logs.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time geological interpretation during drilling operations.
• Analyze well log data, cores, and cuttings to evaluate formations.
• Monitor wellbore stability and advise drilling teams.
• Correlate data across wells to update subsurface models.
• Identify geological hazards and risks and provide mitigation recommendations.
• Prepare and present geological summaries to management and crews.
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and engineers to align with objectives.
• Maintain accurate geological databases for active wells.
