Job summary

Our client in the Oil & Gas exploration sector seeks a seasoned Geologist to join a hybrid team in Randburg. You will interpret seismic data, analyze wells, and build geological models to support exploration and appraisal drilling.

The role requires a Master's degree and at least five years' experience, proficiency with Petrel or Kingdom Suite, and strong analytical skills. You will collaborate with subsurface professionals and contribute to new play fairway analyses.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in exploration geology within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong skills in well log analysis and correlation.
• Experience with basin modeling and play fairway analysis is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
• Good communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic data to identify and delineate potential hydrocarbon traps.
• Analyze well logs and core data to characterize reservoir properties and stratigraphy.
• Develop and refine regional and prospect-scale geological models.
• Perform basin analysis and play fairway mapping to identify exploration opportunities.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers in integrated subsurface studies.
• Provide geological support for exploration and appraisal drilling operations.
• Assist in the preparation of geological reports, presentations, and prospect evaluations.
• Stay abreast of new geological concepts and exploration technologies.
• Contribute to the company's geological database and knowledge management systems.
