Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Deputy General Manager Operations to oversee patient flow, capacity, and demand across the organisation. You will work closely with clinical and corporate teams to ensure safe, efficient services and contribute to system improvements.

The role includes senior leadership responsibilities, on-call duties, and driving performance improvements while ensuring patient-centred care and effective escalation processes.

Qualifications

• First degree or equivalent experience is required.
• Evidence of CPD is required.
• Experience in healthcare leadership is essential.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational management of patient flow, capacity, demand and escalation processes.
• Coordinate responses to bed management and discharge processes.
• Support achievement of performance standards and service improvements.
• Act as a link between clinical, operational and corporate teams.
• Provide visible leadership to operational teams and promote continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call rota and manage during escalations and incidents.
• Lead development and implementation of policies and service improvement programmes.
• Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Deputise for the General Manager as required.
