Job summary

Skipton Building Society is seeking a Senior Operational Risk Manager to lead a high performing risk team and deliver independent oversight across a broad range of operational risks, including technology and cyber security. You will influence senior stakeholders and shape risk appetite within the Society's framework.

You will coach teams, drive improvements in governance, and report to Risk Committees and the Board, contributing to a strong risk culture and resilient operations.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise across the operational risk landscape including technology, cyber security and resilience.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and translating risk matters into actions.
• Deep knowledge of risk frameworks, governance and regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing risk frameworks and challenging first line teams on complex matters.
• Proven ability to produce high quality risk reporting for executives and boards.
• Collaborative, coaching leadership and drive for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide second line oversight, challenge and assurance across operational risks with a focus on technology, cyber security, resilience, data, third party and change risk.
• Act as trusted SME, offering guidance and strategic advice to senior stakeholders on complex risk issues.
• Support and challenge first line teams to identify, assess and manage risks effectively with strong controls.
• Deliver insightful risk reporting and updates to senior leadership, Risk Committees and the Board.
• Drive continuous improvement across risk frameworks, governance and reporting while supporting regulatory initiatives.
• Provide inspirational leadership to the second line team aligned to organisational behaviours.
