Job summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Senior Operational Engineer (Internal Only) to manage day-to-day estate maintenance across Trust sites, leading DEL or contractor teams within budgets and statutory requirements.

You will support the Estates Operations Manager, implement the Estates Operational Strategy, and ensure high-quality building fabric, environmental maintenance and reactive services.

  • Knowledge of HBNs, HTMs and related legislation.
  • Ability to manage budgets and work to deadlines.

Role Summary

The post holder under the direction of the Estates Operations Manager shall provide continual operational management of a comprehensive maintenance service. This would include but not limited to new works and delegated capital projects being undertaken by directly employed labour (DEL) or contractors for all Trust premises and those covered by service level agreements with other organisations.

The post holder will assist the Estates Operations Manager ensuring that the Estates Operational Strategy is reviewed, maintained and delivered in line with national, corporate and departmental objectives.

Establish and maintain good relationships and effective team working, which will include supporting colleagues to ensure that the Estates Department is able to provide the full range of high-quality Estates services.

An exciting career opportunity has arisen within the Trusts Estates Department for a highly motivated and dynamic person who has, professional and technical experience to manage the day to day operational requirements of the department, to assist in the delivery of a comprehensive building fabric, environmental maintenance and reactive service ensuring that Trust properties, grounds and associated services are maintained within available budgets and are compliant with statutory/mandatory legislation

The successful candidate shall have a sound, demonstratable knowledge of Estate management, associated maintenance processes, appropriate HBN’s and HTM’s and other relevant legislation for this post. To be responsible for delegated budgetary control and be able to work to tight deadlines. Capable of working on your own initiative and also as a valued member of the operational team. Have good analytical and problem-solving skills, be flexible and able to work well under pressure to achieve their required objectives for the Estates service and for the Trust.

This is a six-month fixed term contract pending the roll out of the Estates MoC and restructure covering all Trust sites and teams (formally Eastern & Northern)

Working Pattern:Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00
