Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking an Oncology/Haematology Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Band 8a) to provide advanced clinical assessment and management for cancer patients undergoing SACT. You will work autonomously within scope, treating complex cases and supporting MDT planning across Royal Stoke and County.

Applicants must be NMC registered with a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice, including non-medical prescribing, and have Oncology/SACT experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, and management for oncology/haematology patients.
• Manage oncology-related symptoms and treatment toxicities.
• Request, interpret, and act upon diagnostic investigations.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment and management plans in collaboration with the MDT.
• Independently prescribe medications and supportive therapies within scope of practice and local policies.
• Conduct review clinics, follow-up appointments, and treatment assessment clinics.
• Provide holistic care, addressing patient and family needs.
• Offer education and advice to patients and carers regarding diagnosis and options.
• Participate in MDT meetings to support decision-making and care planning.
• Identify and respond to oncological emergencies and safe care transitions.
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support education, mentorship, and supervision of nursing staff and students.
