Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join the Acute Oncology Service. The role covers unscheduled cancer care, leadership of trainee ACPs, and 24-hour service needs, with potential for a trainee pathway.

Applicants should hold an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice with NMP eligibility where permitted, and have substantial acute care experience. The post may include night/weekend shifts and collaborative teamwork with clinicians.

Qualifications

• Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice with NMP where permitted.
• Evidence of working as an independent practitioner in an acute setting.
• Experience in cancer care or acute oncology is desirable.
• Experience in leading learning and supporting colleagues in practice.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting after triage by Cancer Care Emergency Helpline service or referrals.
• Deliver unscheduled cancer care with focus on patient safety and quality standards.
• Provide leadership for trainee ACPs and support their academic pathways.
• Work a mix of day, weekend, and night duties as part of a 24h service.
• Develop and gatekeep for Acute Oncology referral pathways alongside senior clinicians.
