Job summary

Maritime Developments Limited (MDL) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver robust mechanical solutions for offshore and onshore energy equipment including carousels, tensioners, reel drives, handling gear and winches.

You will design, verify and prepare documentation to rigorous standards, while collaborating with internal teams and external clients to ensure safe, cost-effective outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or HND with relevant experience.
• 5–10 years in mechanical or marine engineering within Marine, Oil & Gas or Offshore Renewables.
• Proficient in Mathcad and FS2000/Staad.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Knowledge of DNV, Lloyds, FEM, AISC and related mechanical standards.
• Familiar with Machinery Directive, ATEX Directive, PUWER, LOLER.
• Experience with fabrication practices and tolerances.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake mechanical engineering activities across projects, including equipment design, design verification and lifting analysis.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, drawings and documentation to recognised codes and standards (DNV, FEM, Lloyds, AISC, LOLER, PUWER, HSAW).
• Carry out mechanical analysis using FS2000/Staad, Mathcad and FEA software.
• Collaborate to compile Factory acceptance documents and ensure testing per project requirements.
• Generate design packages, reports and technical notes.
• Lead component selection for carousels, tensioners, reel drives and related equipment.
• Develop technical drawings with Draftspersons; ensure deck machinery suitability.
• Review feedback and lessons learned for ongoing designs.
• Provide site support during installation, commissioning and site integration.
