Job summary

Southampton City Council's Reablement Service is seeking a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to lead the OT team and shape a therapy-led approach. You will supervise staff, prioritise referrals, and ensure timely, person-centred interventions that support independence and meaningful outcomes.

The role requires HCPC registration, a qualifying OT degree, and at least four years of post-qualifying experience, with strong leadership and collaboration across partners.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy, Diploma in Occupational Therapy, or WFOT-recognised equivalent.
• Current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
• At least four years’ post-qualification OT experience in health or social care.
• Experience managing or supervising staff.
• Experience handling complex caseloads, competing priorities and risk.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel around the city as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership to Occupational Therapists and staff.
• Oversee allocation and prioritisation of referrals using professional judgement.
• Oversee complex OT assessments and interventions.
• Support development of a strong, therapy-led Reablement offer.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Adult Social Care, health services and partners.
• Ensure practice meets HCPC requirements and Royal College standards.
