Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join Adult Care Services across Hertfordshire. You will work with multiple teams, including the Adult Disability, Review and Locality teams, delivering person-centred OT assessments, developing support plans and enabling independence for adults with learning or physical disabilities.

Hybrid/ flexible working options are considered where feasible.

Qualifications

• HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist with current registration.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• At least 2 years post-qualifying OT experience.
• Experience in social care and carrying out assessments.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Desirable: knowledge of Care Act 2014; knowledge of Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Adult Care Services teams.
• Develop innovative support plans.
• Promote strength-based assessment and independence.
• Work with residents to promote safety and participation.
• Build links with the community and raise awareness.
• Support other therapists and care officers.
• Provide information to enable individuals to participate in daily life.
• Undertake a specialism such as Moving and Handling, BiA, AMP or OT practice educator.

Starting Salary: £44,253 progressing to £48,738 pa pro rata + £2k welcome payment, lease car & relocation (terms apply) pro rata for part time

Hospital Teams receive an extra market enhancement of between £2,170 - £2,326 + 5% operational allowance per year

Integrated Discharge Service

Our Integrated Discharge service in the West of Hertfordshire supports an integrated approach to managing the care of people who require support through the admission and discharge pathway, so the role will involve working alongside Occupational Therapists, Community Care Officers, health colleagues and care providers. You will have the ability to undertake innovative assessments and care planning with individuals, carers and their personal support networks.

We promote personalisation focusing on the wellbeing of the individual. Through care planning we strive for increased independence, choice and control by enabling people to direct their own support. You will gain extensive experience in the field of adult social care, safeguarding practice and multi-disciplinary working.

About the role

• Working collaboratively with other partners and teams within Adult Care Services
• Developing innovative support plans
• Promote and support strength based assessment and practice approach to all interventions to maximise independence, health and well being to prevent or reduce the need for Adult Social Care
• Working creatively with residents to ensure their safety and independence
• Raising awareness in the area and developing valuable links for the team
• Supporting other Therapists and Community Care Officers
• Provide information and advice to enable an individual to confidently and safely participate in their daily life, includes grading of tasks and activities and adapting their environments
• You will undertake a specialism eg Moving and Handling, BiA, AMP or Occupational Therapy practice educator

About you

Essential

• HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist
• Full driving licence and regular access to a vehicle
• 2 years post qualifying experience as an Occupational Therapist
• Knowledge and experience in social care sector
• Experience of completing assessments and making recommendations
• Ability to work on your own as well as part of a team

Desirable

• Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act 2005
