Job summary

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Local Mental Health Team covering Broxtowe and Hucknall on a part-time basis to cover maternity leave. Core hours roughly 09:00-17:00, with emphasis on home and community-based OT assessments and interventions.

You will work collaboratively with patients, carers and partner organisations, provide supervision to an assistant, and contribute to service delivery while maintaining professional

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc Occupational Therapy, HCPC registration required.
  • Mental health experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in community/home settings and with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions in patients' homes and local environments.
  • Collaborate with an assistant to implement intervention plans.
  • Receive professional supervision and maintain registration and professional development.

We are looking to fill a part time post at a Local Mental Health Team covering the the Broxtowe and Hucknall area of Nottinghamshire to cover maternity leave. Our core business hours are 09:00-17:00.

Main duties of the job

Occupational Therapist with excellent communication skills to join our existing dynamic multidisciplinary Local Mental Health Team.

The post-holder will conduct specific assessments, formulation and interventions, working collaboratively with patients, their carers/families and partnership organisations to develop creative, goal oriented, time limited occupational therapy plans.

Job responsibilities

This post is both rewarding and a vital role towards the assessment and delivery of treatment to our patients in the Broxtowe and Hucknall area.

To provide a high-quality Occupational Therapy service collaboratively with the patients in their own homes and local environments. Working with an assistant in the provision of intervention plans. If interested see JD/Spec for more details.

Professional and clinical supervision will be provided by an identified Occupational Therapist.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • BSc or MSc Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Specialist knowledge/post registration and experience of working in a mental health setting
  • Demonstrates continued professional development to maintain registration
Physical Requirements
  • Physical ability to perform a full range of duties
  • Experience of working in community or acute mental health
Training
  • oWillingness to undertake clinical practice, education, and training to enhance service delivery
  • Relevant training to post
Knowledge/Skills
  • Assessment & OT process skills
  • Skilled in motivating others
  • Quality & audit skills
  • Experience of supervising and leading staff
Contractual Requirements
