Job summary

Priory Hospital Nelson House in Gosport, Hampshire, is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health Professionals and Psychology department. You will lead assessments, deliver tailored treatment plans and supervise junior staff within a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.

Applicants must be HCPC registered with OT qualifications (Diploma or degree) and have mental health experience.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered with an OT qualification (Diploma, degree, or MSc).
• Experience in mental health services and supervising OT staff and students.
• Training in MoHO, VdTMoCA and Sensory Integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment, treatment and evaluation of patients with complex physical, neurological or mental health needs, developing person‑centred care plans to maximise independence and quality of life.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior occupational therapists, support staff and students, promoting high standards of practice and professional development.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with patients, families, healthcare professionals and external agencies to coordinate effective and timely care.
• Carry out specialist assessments for equipment, adaptations, moving and handling and discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and reduce the risk of hospital readmission.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, contribute to service improvement initiatives and ensure practice complies with professional standards, legislation and organisational policies.

Nelson House has an opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team.

Located in Gosport, Hampshire, Priory Hospital Nelson House is a rehabilitation service which offers both level 1 and level 2 care, supporting males presenting with mental health conditions and complex needs, who may also have behaviours that challenge and substance misuse issues.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care. What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role – Senior Occupational Therapist

Candidates must be HCPC registered and hold a Diploma in Occupational Therapy, or a degree, honours degree or Master's in Occupational Therapy, or have completed formal postgraduate study (award or non‑award bearing). They must also have prior experience working in mental health services as a qualified member of staff, experience supervising Occupational Therapists or Occupational Therapy Assistants and students, and training in relevant models of practice such as MoHO, VdTMoCA and Sensory Integration.
