Job summary

Priory Hospital Southampton is offering an Occupational Therapist Assistant role on a full-time basis (37.5 hours) in a residential mental health service for adults. The position operates Monday to Friday, with weekend cover on a rota basis, at Priory Hospital Southampton, Marchwood, near Southampton.

You will work alongside the Occupational Therapist and the multidisciplinary team to help patients develop skills supporting mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, promoting participation in

Qualifications

• GCSEs or O-Levels grades A–C or equivalent practical experience are required.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent practical experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Occupational Therapist and wider MDT with assessments, care plans and the delivery of therapeutic activities and interventions.
• Encourage and support patients to take part in self-care, life skills, therapeutic and recreational groups, helping to build confidence, independence and a sense of purpose.
• Record and report patient progress and participation, contribute ideas to improve activities and help create engaging schedules that meet patients’ individual needs.

Priory Hospital Southampton has an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, with weekend cover on a rota basis.

Priory Hospital Southampton, Marchwood, Southampton is a residential mental health service providing acute and eating disorder care for adult males and females. It is accessible by public transport, with a bus stop at the end of the access road and Totton railway station approximately 5 miles away, with Redbridge station around 7 miles away. Due to the service's location, access to a vehicle or the ability to drive is recommended.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside the Occupational Therapist and wider multidisciplinary team, you’ll help patients develop and maintain skills that support their mental, emotional, physical and social wellbeing. You’ll play an important role in encouraging participation in self-care, life skills, therapeutic and recreational activities, helping patients build confidence, independence and a greater sense of purpose.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role

Candidates must have GCSEs or O-Levels (grades A–C), a relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
