Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is seeking a Band 6 deputy sister to lead a nurse-led unit. The post involves senior clinical leadership, direct patient care for acute and chronic conditions, and oversight of transfusions, OPAT and ambulatory treatments.

The role emphasizes safe discharge, care coordination, and ongoing professional development within a nurse-led service aimed at keeping patients at home.

Qualifications

• Post-registration qualification relevant to the clinical area.
• Evidence of continuing professional development and willingness to develop knowledge and skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide senior clinical leadership across the unit.
• Assess and manage patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, escalating deterioration.
• Safely give and oversee blood transfusions, intravenous iron, OPAT, venesection and other ambulatory treatments.
• Support day-case procedures, including pre- and post-procedure assessment and monitoring.
• Coordinate patient flow, treatment schedules and discharge to avoid unnecessary admissions.
• Advise, delegate to and supervise Band 5 nurses, HCSWs and students.
• Work with consultants, specialist teams and the wider MDT to ensure continuity of care.
• Promote safe discharge, patient education and self-management so patients can stay at home.
