Job description

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior Consultant - Nuclear Safety, ideally with a background in the nuclear or defence sector, to be engaged on a permanent basis in Barrow with flexible hybrid working arrangements.

What you'll be doing:

1. Act as safety engineering lead, providing recommendations through analysis to improve the safety engineering performance and delivery of departmental outputs.
2. Facilitate the build and commissioning delivery programme through innovative engineering solutions and problem solving.
3. Ensure the maintenance of design intent during the build and commissioning.
4. Advise and conduct Intelligent Customer duties regarding documentation, advice, and services provided to the business.
5. Support assessment of design changes.
6. Assess build maturity for entry into subsequent build phases.
7. Provide technically sound challenges to existing requirements.
8. Write and present reports to communicate nuclear safety matters to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

1. Degree Qualified in Engineering/Physical Science discipline; Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Materials, Chemistry, Physics.
2. Knowledge of the nuclear industry and Nuclear Regulations.
3. Previous exposure to Engineering Lifecycle.
4. Proven experience of justifying design change.

Desirable:

1. Proven technical report writing skills.
2. Presentation skills.
