Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a motivated Quality Engineer to join the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO) Quality Management team, supporting quality arrangements across the SZC project. You will ensure nuclear‑industry best practice quality management systems are defined, deployed, and consistently applied across all PDO activities.

Location: Bristol or London or Ipswich or Manchester; On Site: 2 Days; Clearance: BPSS; Experience Level: 1-5 years.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in quality management within major projects, ideally nuclear power sector.
• Solid understanding of QA/QC across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning.
• Experience on large, complex nuclear programmes with governance and regulatory expectations.
• Interfaces with project delivery teams and supply chain organisations.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to produce reports and recommendations.
• Must be proactive, independent, and well organized.
• Native-level English (spoken and written).
• Operates at a senior Quality Engineer level with potential to progress to Quality Manager/Lead.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with quality management systems across all PDO activities.
• Define and deploy nuclear-grade QA/QC arrangements per industry standards.
• Develop and communicate quality requirements across SZC organisation and supply chain.
• Support compliance with Nuclear Site Licence Conditions and ensure responsibilities are discharged.
• Monitor, analyse, and report quality performance with actionable insights.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives and right-first-time delivery.
• Collaborate with project teams and suppliers to apply quality arrangements.
• Support strategic quality objectives aligned with SZC project goals.
