Senior Nuclear Mechanical Engineer - Handling Systems Lead

Job summary

[Client] is a leading engineering and project delivery organisation delivering complex engineering solutions across nuclear, energy, water and infrastructure sectors. We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design activities for major nuclear projects, specialising in Nuclear Mechanical Handling.

You will mentor junior engineers and manage multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Typically 12+ years' mechanical engineering experience.
• SQEP within the nuclear sector.
• Extensive experience in Nuclear Mechanical Handling.
• Strong understanding of UK regulatory requirements including CDM, PESR, Machinery Safety Regulations and ATEX.
• Experience producing and reviewing: Design Justification Reports, Mechanical Handling Diagrams, Design Proposal Drawings, Plant & Building Layouts, Equipment Specifications & Datasheets, Single and Multi-Discipline Design Reviews, Stress analysis.
• Supply chain management experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC, rotating equipment, process plant or lifting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design activities across the project lifecycle.
• Manage technical interfaces and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Review, check and approve engineering deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes and standards.
• Support project reporting, risk management and resource planning.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
