Job summary

Lightsource bp in London is seeking a Principal Planner to lead planning and environmental permitting across the solar and battery storage portfolio, from inception to consenting, construction and operation.

You will own end-to-end planning processes, manage consultants, prepare EIAs and planning applications, and coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders to balance technical, environmental and commercial needs.

Qualifications

• Experience managing NSIP-scale planning and EIAs.
• Up-to-date understanding of UK planning and environmental policy.
• Stakeholder engagement across authorities and political stakeholders.
• Strong project management: programme, risk and budget ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage planning for NSIP scale projects and develop in-house NSIP expertise.
• Provide expert advice to inform planning strategy, decision making and risk management.
• Support site selection and feasibility work with environmental/planning appraisals.
• Lead external consultant teams and coordinate with BD, Engineering and Construction.
• Ensure planning applications are robust and defensible against challenges.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with statutory bodies and local authorities.
• Monitor national and local planning policy and advise on implications.
