Stonehaven Healthcare Ltd, based at The Lilacs in Exeter, is seeking a Night Senior Care Assistant for a full-time position. You will work nights, supporting residents with daily living tasks, care planning, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Compile duty staff rotas.
  • Previous experience in a care home, hospital, or similar kitchen environment is desirable.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills; able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Good communication skills with a professional and respectful approach to colleagues and residents.
  • Compassionate and patient with genuine interest in improving the lives of older or vulnerable people.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and carry out manual handling and cleaning tasks.
  • Positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Care for residents and assist with daily living tasks.
  • Assist in developing individual care plans including nutrition, mobility, continence and pressure sore prevention.
  • Assist residents with dressing, undressing, bathing, and toilet needs.
  • Support residents with mobility and use of aids/equipment.
  • Care for residents who are ill or require minor dressings; help with bed nursing if needed.
  • Assist with beds, room tidying, light cleaning and emptying commodes.
  • Promote mental and physical activities by talking with residents and facilitating reading, writing, hobbies and recreation.
  • Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Liaise with Care Home Manager, Social Services and residents' relatives as needed.
  • Record petty cash and residents' funds transactions accurately.
  • Uphold the home’s good reputation and safety standards, including hazard awareness and signage.
  • Answer call bells, front door, and welcome visitors.

Night Senior Care Assistant - The Lilacs: Our lovely home in Exeter, The Lilacs is looking for a full time Night Senior Care Assistant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Care
  • Assist in the development of individual care plans for each resident, including nutritional needs, pressure sore prevention, moving and handling requirements, continence management.
  • Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toilet.
  • Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including incontinence and help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
  • Care for residents who are temporarily sick and need minor dressings, bed nursing etc.
  • Help care for residents who are dying.
  • Make and change beds, tidy resident’s rooms, light cleaning and the emptying of commodes.
  • Inspect resident’s laundry and where necessary arrange for repair with the housekeeper.
  • Help in the promotion of mental and physical activities of residents through talking to them, taking them out when possible, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreation.
  • Be aware and practise all Food and Hygiene and health and safety regulations.
  • Liaison
  • Liaise regularly with the Care Home Manager; reporting problems identified and if any action is taken.
  • Liaise with local Authority Social Services Departments.
  • Liaise with residents and their relatives.

  • Undertake other responsibilities at the request of the Care Home Manager.
  • To ensure that all petty cash and residents funds transactions are recorded accurately.
  • To be mindful of the good reputation of the home.
  • Be mindful of Health and Safety issues e.g., trailing flexes across corridors and wet floors. Ensure warning signs are used and clearly displayed.
  • Answer call bells, the front door, telephone calls and welcome all visitors to the home.
Person Specification - Skills And Qualifications
