Job summary

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Counsellor/Senior Counsellor/HI Psychotherapeutic Counsellor for the North Dorset Counselling team. The role allows home visits and a mix of face-to-face, online or telephone treatment with interpreters as needed.

The post requires DBS clearance funded by the Trust, and eligibility for current NHS service will be offered on a secondment basis only. Closing date 01 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Psychotherapy or Counselling.
• Registration or Accreditation with BACP, British Psychoanalytic Council, UKCP, NCPS or ACC.
• In current practice as a Counsellor.
• Further training in a recognised model of psychological therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide systematic, comprehensive counselling within NHS Talking Therapy for patients referred by GPs or self-referral.
• Offer guidance to Steps to Wellbeing service on psychological and mental health issues.
• Autonomous practice within professional guidelines and trust policies.
