Job summary

ARO Technology is seeking a Lead Network Engineer (Tier 3) in Liverpool. The role combines hands-on network engineering with technical assurance, design review and continual service improvement across SDS-managed data-centre and customer networks.

You will mentor engineers, lead complex incidents and ensure secure, resilient connectivity for NHS and public-sector services. The position is hybrid with three days in the Liverpool office and two days remote, with occasional travel to Runcorn and

Qualifications

• 5+ years' relevant experience in senior network engineering or technical delivery.
• Expert knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, firewalls and secure connectivity.
• Advanced experience with Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Fortinet FortiGate/FortiManager and Extreme EXOS/ExtremeCloud IQ.
• Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, spanning tree and 802.1X.
• ITIL-aligned incident, change and service-transition processes.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex incidents and technical risks.
• Take end-to-end ownership of escalated SDS issues with timely resolution.
• Lead the technical response to major incidents affecting SDS-hosted services.
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN/WLAN, firewall, VPN, SD-WAN and data-centre issues.
• Produce and review high‑level and low‑level designs and migration plans.
• Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers and contribute to development plans.
