Job summary

WE Talent is seeking a Senior Network Engineer in Basildon for a hybrid role with occasional site visits. You will lead design, installation, migration and support of ISP/datacentre networks and customer estates, using Cisco Nexus/ASR and Fortinet FortiGate among others.

You will work in a hands-on environment as a technical authority, with 24/7 on-call rotation and on-call payments. Strong BGP and data centre experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Senior network engineering experience in MSP/ISP/service-provider environments.
• Extensive hands-on BGP design, peering, route policy and troubleshooting.
• Strong Cisco routing & switching experience, Nexus/ASR.
• Excellent L2/L3 networking knowledge incl. VLANs, trunking, STP, EIGRP.
• Datacentre networking, resilient design and structured cabling.
• Fortinet FortiGate/FortiManager experience.
• Firewalling at scale, NAT, IPS, VPNs.
• Understanding of internet connectivity incl. FTTC/FTTP/leased lines.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent customer-facing communication.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of network installation and migration projects from start to finish.
• Work with Network Manager, Accounts and customers to deliver projects.
• Maintain ISP and datacentre network, including core routing, peering, transit and edge connectivity.
• Configure, manage and troubleshoot multi-customer firewall environments (FortiGate/FortiManager/Sophos XG).
• Configure and support Cisco Nexus datacentre and ASR platforms.
• Configure and troubleshoot BGP, peering and route policies.
• Maintain and develop network monitoring and alerting systems.
• Provide technical support across customer and internal networks.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rota with separate on-call allowance and payments.
• Attend customer sites/datacentres for installations and migrations.
