Job summary

Adecco is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join the client’s infrastructure team on a 6-month contract in Liverpool. The role is hybrid with the expectation of 3 days onsite per week and involves maintaining and enhancing an enterprise network to ensure security, stability and performance.

The position requires strong FortiGate experience, routing/switching expertise, VPNs, and network monitoring. Occasional out-of-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• FortiGate firewall administration experience.
• Experience with enterprise LAN/WAN and data centre networks.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS and DHCP.

Responsibilities

• Provide BAU support and proactive monitoring across the network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, degradations and outages.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Administer FortiGate firewall environments.
• Implement approved network changes, upgrades and security improvements.
• Work closely with infrastructure, server and security teams on projects.
• Maintain high standards of documentation and operational procedures.

Senior Network Engineer (Fortinet)

Up to £470 per day (Umbrella) with Potential Flexibility for the Right Candidate | Initial 6-Month Contract (Extension Highly Likely) | Liverpool (Hybrid)

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their infrastructure team on an initial 6-month contract, with great potential for extensions.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing a complex enterprise network environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the stability, security and performance of critical network infrastructure while supporting both operational and project-based activities.

Location & Working Arrangements

• Liverpool based
• Hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite
• Monday to Friday
• Free onsite parking
• Occasional out-of-hours work to support planned changes, maintenance activities and major incidents

Key Responsibilities

• Provide BAU support, maintenance and proactive monitoring across the network infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, service degradations and outages
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes
• Administer and support FortiGate firewall environments
• Implement approved network changes, upgrades and security improvements
• Work closely with infrastructure, server and security teams to deliver technical projects
• Maintain high standards of documentation and operational procedures

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience administering FortiGate firewalls
• Security policy management, VPNs, remote access and firewall troubleshooting
• Enterprise-scale LAN/WAN support and administration
• Data centre networking experience
• Routing and switching expertise
